Since 2017, the Yilan County Government has promoted the “Yilan County Muslim-Friendly Environment Guidance Program,” dedicated to helping local tourism operators enhance Muslim-friendly hospitality services. This morning (the 24th), the “2025 Yilan County Muslim-Friendly Environment Achievements Presentation” was held at the Shangri-La Dongshan River Resort Hotel, bringing together certified operators and representatives of tourism associations to witness Yilan’s progress in fostering a Muslim-friendly tourism environment.
This year, 10 operators obtained Muslim-friendly certification, spanning lodging, dining, and experiential activities—demonstrating Yilan’s strong momentum in advancing friendly services. To date, Yilan County has a cumulative 55 certified operators and 68 certifications, ranking second nationwide, reflecting local businesses’ commitment and active investment in friendly tourism. Yilan’s level of Muslim-friendly development is second only to Taipei City. Pairing the capital’s convenient urban attractions and shopping districts with Yilan’s rich natural landscapes and leisure experiences creates an ideal travel route for Muslim visitors.
The Yilan County Government stated that the Muslim travel market is one of the fastest-growing visitor segments globally. The county is actively guiding the build-out of Muslim-friendly environments, helping businesses improve their hospitality and strengthening Yilan’s image and competitiveness in the international tourism market. With mountains meeting the sea, deep cultural traditions, and distinctive industries, Yilan aims to ensure that visitors not only experience the county’s beauty but also receive friendly and inclusive service.
This year’s plan continues to encourage businesses to obtain Muslim-friendly certification; it also includes information sessions, training courses, the establishment of a Yilan County Muslim-Friendly Tourism Database, and a “Promotional Gift Campaign for Muslim Trips to Yilan.” These diverse initiatives are designed to elevate local businesses’ service capacity and visibility and to drive substantive development of Muslim-friendly tourism. Through years of joint efforts between the county government and businesses, Yilan has gradually shaped a friendly tourism environment with an international outlook, showcasing a new image of local tourism moving toward diversity and inclusion.
