Sun Moon Lake Advances Muslim-Friendly Tourism, Unlocking International Opportunities

Update Date: July 22, 2025

On July 22, 2025, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration (under the Tourism Administration, MOTC) presented the initial outcomes of the “2024–2025 Sun Moon Lake Muslim-Friendly Travel Environment Guidance Project” at the Tourism Administration’s Travel Service Center, showcasing the area’s potential in the international Muslim travel market.

Since its launch in October 2024, the project has guided 20 businesses to achieve 24 Muslim-friendly verifications—including 6 restaurants, 5 accommodations, 7 prayer rooms, as well as friendly shops, activity venues, and Halal products. Most certified operators are located in Puli, Yuchi, and Shuili townships, where integrated travel routes are being developed to combine local characteristics with Muslim-friendly services.

Beyond certification, the project organized training programs and study visits to help businesses better understand the cultural and religious needs of Muslim travelers. It also produced bilingual travel materials and four recommended itineraries, linking local attractions and facilities to make travel planning more convenient.

Looking ahead, the administration plans to expand the project’s scale and scope, working with more local businesses to create a Muslim-friendly tourism circle with strong international competitiveness—positioning Sun Moon Lake as a safe and preferred destination for Muslim visitors to Taiwan.
